COAT NEW MINE EQUIPMENT OR REPAIR DETERIORATION

Mining and mineral processing require man and machines against Mother Earth. When this constant abuse impacts equipment performance, the best way to improve the odds is by using tough ArmorThane coatings. Advancements made in polyurea & polyurethane provide maximum protection against friction and corrosion in mining operations. Extending the life of equipment saves millions in replacement costs and downtime.

APPLICATIONS FOR THE
MINING EQUIPMENT
COATINGS INDUSTRY

If equipment rusts, deterioration accelerates. Every piece of equipment that is or can be damaged and worn during extracting, moving, preparing and refining product should be coated. This includes sluices, gates, trommels, conveyors, ore cars, diggers, crushers, cleaners, pipes, truck beds, tanks and steel structures.

In addition to creating corrosion resistance, impact protection, and abrasion barriers, these coatings reduce noise and vibration that can cause extra wear on bolts and gears. Coatings can be applied with various textures for slip resistance.

SAFE FOR ALL ENVIRONMENTS

ArmorThane polyurea coating technology offers resistance to extreme temperatures, UV radiation, and chemical exposure, making it ideal for use in harsh mining environments. Our coating technology far outpaces nearly all others in our industry in factors such as abrasion protection, corrosion prevention, and UV resistance. You can be sure your mine equipment will last decades longer with ArmorThane coating technology applied.

MOBILE COATINGS

No longer does the mining climate prevent onsite application. Today, our innovations in chemical development, application processes and mobile coating equipment allow coating products to be sprayed at any time, and anywhere. Unlike many other companies, we build custom trailers to meet your specifications. ArmorThane has all the high-pressure equipment and supplies needed to be fast and efficient.

PIGMENTING MINING
EQUIPMENT COATINGS

While no coating is more durable than ArmorThane, the reality is that any coating will eventually wear thin from this constant friction on equipment. By applying two coatings with different colors, maintenance teams have a visual inspection marker. For example, the base coat can be caution orange with a topcoat of grey polyurea. When the caution orange starts to show beneath, it is time to schedule a quick spray-on repair. In addition to creating corrosion resistance, impact protection, and abrasion barriers, these coatings reduce noise and vibration that can cause extra wear on bolts and gears. Coatings can be applied with various textures for slip resistance.

BEYOND EQUIPMENT

In addition to equipment, the entire corrosion-susceptible environment will benefit from being sprayed with plural component polymers. ArmorThane products coat steel, concrete, wood and various geotextile materials. If primary or secondary containment is a concern, leaks are prevented by creating a seamless membrane, even when filled with fuel, waste or other corrosive and caustic liquids. These coatings will not leach into or absorb contained materials. Polyurethane spray foam is used to fill cracks, reinforce rock stability, prevent minor groundwater inflow, and improve ventilation controls. It even seals vacated mine shaft openings.

VIBRATION &
NOISE REDUCTION

In addition to creating corrosion resistance, impact protection and an abrasion barrier, ArmorThane coatings reduce noise and vibration that can cause extra wear on bolts and gears.

FAQ FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Protective coatings are vital to the mining industry for the wear protection of equipment. The most common equipment wear issues in this industry are abrasion and corrosion. Polyurea coating technology has proven to be the industry leader in both of these areas.

In mining industry settings where excessive abrasion may occur but no chemical wear is expected, a well-applied and properly maintained polyurea coating can last around 20–25 years, depending on traffic, usage and environmental conditions. It’s important to note that proper maintenance is key in ensuring the longevity of any protective coating; regular inspections should be made for signs of damage or deterioration, while proper cleaning techniques should be followed during routine maintenance activities for optimum results.

the mining industry utilizes many types of equipment. Some of the larger pieces of equipment that are more prone to corrosion and abrasion issues are draglines, crushers, hydraulic mining shovels, motor graders, blasting tools, and excavators. However, there are many more smaller types of equipment used in the industry that also utilize protective coatings.
