Camouflage has been around since ancient times when hunters would use leaves and branches to blend in. With the introduction of firearms and modern war, camouflage has evolved. With the start of WWI, the need to hide and protect soldiers was key to every country’s survival. In 1914, Lucien-Victor Guirand de Scévola created camouflage for the first time in France. The British followed, then the Americans.
